Islington in Bloom
The annual gardening competition, run by Islington Council and Islington Gardeners, is open for entries from 1 May – 5 June 2026.
There are lots of different categories to enter. You don’t need to have any experience, or
even a garden, to take part! It doesn’t matter if you are an expert gardener, or a budding new enthusiast, Islington in Bloom is for you. Click the link below to find out more about the competition categories.
Community Climate Resilience Workshop: Extreme heat and power outage action planning (In person)
Join Voluntary Action Islington on Thursday 14th May 2026 for a practical, scenario-based Community Climate Resilience Workshop focused on preparing for extreme heat and power outages. This workshop will have a focus on children, families and others including the elderly.
Designed for community groups, voluntary organisations, and local partners, this interactive session will explore how the community can better prepare for and respond to climate-related emergencies in Islington. Book your ticket below!

In response, we’re bringing residents from all walks of life together to celebrate the power of unity in diversity, and remind ourselves that love drives our lives.
Come and connect over food and music from around the world, representing the diverse population of south-west Islington.
Pop in any time from 4.30pm – 8pm. Food around 6pm. Kids welcome!

Community Event with Food, Activities and Local Support (26 Feb)
Join Mildmay Community Centre for a fun, welcoming day packed with activities for all ages. Enjoy free food, hands-on workshops, and opportunities to meet local community groups. Discover ways to get involved in gardening, cooking, and sustainable food projects, and find out about services and support available from organisations including Manor Gardens and Help On Your Doorstep. There’s something for everyone — bring the family, meet your neighbours, and celebrate community spirit.
Felix Fresh: Free Food at Cook For Good (25 Feb)
Islington Food Partnership is promoting this free fresh food distribution, delivered by IFP members The Felix Project and Cook for Good, supporting local residents to access good-quality surplus food.
The Felix Fresh van will be at Cook For Good on Weds 25 Feb, 1.00–2.30pm, offering a wide variety of free fresh fruit and vegetables. No referral is needed and everyone is welcome.
Please take bags, boxes or trolleys to take food home. Supplies are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

We’re partnering with Octopus Community Network and Islington Climate Centre for a People’s Assembly all about food in Islington. Come along on Tuesday 27 January 2026 to discuss food access, waste, sustainable supply chains and what a fairer food future could look like in our borough — with space for everyone to share experiences, ideas and solutions.
