Opportunity for Islington Food Aid Providers: Host a Felix Fresh Market
The Islington Food Partnership is pleased to highlight an exciting opportunity from one of our leading members, The Felix Project, for local organisations supporting residents with access to food.
Felix Fresh is a community market model that redistributes surplus fresh produce directly to local people. Each event brings up to 12 pallets (around 4–5 tonnes) of fresh fruit and vegetables to a community venue, where it is shared within a two-hour window. The markets are open to everyone, helping to reduce stigma while tackling food waste and improving access to healthy food.
The Felix Project provides an experienced staff member and volunteer support, and works closely with a host community organisation that has strong local reach. This makes Felix Fresh a great opportunity for food aid providers looking to expand capacity, reach more households, and collaborate with other local partners in a visible, positive way.
To host a Felix Fresh market, organisations should have connections to at least 300 families, good communication channels (such as newsletters, WhatsApp groups or links with schools), and the ability to provide a minimum of five volunteers on the day. Practical requirements include suitable vehicle access, space for pallets, and basic waste and recycling solutions. Covered or indoor space is helpful, particularly during colder months.
If your organisation is interested in hosting a Felix Fresh event in Islington or would like to explore whether this model could work for you, we strongly encourage you to get in touch.
